Happy 4th of July! A comment could be worth $50….

On this Fourth of July, in the spirit of Dependence—yes, I depend on you my adorable readers, and I want to give you all a big hug and a gift. But that would be hard, and I’m busy caregiving. However…………

This week I went over the moon when I saw I have over 500 followers! I am so grateful that you are riding this roller coaster with me either as a caregiver, friend, or the person who must always ride in the front seat, no matter how scary the ride.

So, as a special thanks, I want to bestow one lucky reader a $50 Target gift card. (I thought 500 dimes would be hard to ship). As soon as my husband returns home from golfing I’m going to have him pick a number from 1 to 50.  The commenter who is that magic number will be the appreciated reader!

It’s small potatoes for the kind and loyal readers you have become. I appreciate each and every one of you. I love your comments and  your stories about caregiving and hope you continue to share. In fact, one day we will have a sharing day with appreciation too, I think.

Now, my husband can be a quirky guy. (If you call khakis and golf shirts, with the occasional button down collar quirky) and he could pick the number 1.  So you never know. This is not a contest (the lawyer in me) it’s a gift. I just don’t know who it’s for.

If you comment 50 straight times, well, that wouldn’t be nice now would it? I reserve the right to give my gift to a nice person….so only nice people will be counted.

Happy 4th of July to you all!

  1. This is quite funny and of course it “caught my eye.” YOur husband is not quirky, he is JUST JOHN!! and John is awesome and John likes golf and John does indeed where polo shirts and Khaki pants. It’s all good and all in jest. Hope your 4th was happening!!

    1. Yes, hoping all my readers, and “callers” love this gift giving, ’cause they deserve it. But need to get the shy ones out of their shell..They probably have to much stress.

  2. Cathy, only you could turn choosing the recipient of a gift, be a comedic event! Hope quirky man had a great game, while you both enjoyed your 4th!
I wrote an lengthy comment that was under modification, writing at some insane hour this AM.
Note to self – do not read/comment at some crazy hour of the nite. Note to Cathy – let Press know I talk as much as I will comment! Maybe they could indicate modify before I type my dissertation. Luv ya

  3. Its been a WAY too busy weekend of rain and entertaining Soooooooo I hid in my bedroom for a quiet moment—thats when I most enjoy your articles. They amuse me in such positive ways. I know thrum them what your daily life is like. Bless you! I do hope I’m on your list of ” Friends Who Might Need Me” and hope for your sake that it is many years away.

    1. Of course I do….I’m a caregiver…btw…your name is spelled wrong in your email up above there, so no wonder you don’t get my posts!

  4. I just have to say, as only I would, “were u drinking today?”. Yes of course I am kidding! However, u just made me laugh again, speaking of how u would select a non-winner, maybe recipient of the gift card. it is not a contest, as that would require 10 pages of legal lingo, only the legal department would need to develop. U must be the legal department, as u r a lawyer! The 500 dimes would make us laugh more!
U made me think not of the gift, but all the lingo a caregiver has to read just to obtain new equipment, put it together, admit to a facility, learn a treatment or just understand what is the latest version of medical info related to your loved one (& so much more ).

Providing care as a career and at other times for family or friends (knowing the later most difficult). Your gesture of support means far more than a salary ever does.

Your quirky hubby should write the next.blog letting us into the fun (!) He had to go thru to pick the number! Love to be the fly on the wall, I would have to laugh! Thxs.

    2. Okay so here’s what I did…to be published tomorrow. I made hubby put the magic number in an envelope and when I get to 50 comments, I’ll find the gifted…. Thanks, Bethy!
